A crash barrier is a roadside or median structure designed to enhance traffic safety by preventing vehicles from go off the road or crossing into oncoming traffic. Barriers are installed where traffic hazards are likely. In Estonia, their selection must follow two guidelines: the EVS-EN 1317 standard and the Road Administration's "Guide for Ensuring Passive Safety on Roads Using Vehicle Restraint Systems."
